If you know me, you know that I absolutely LOVE the Davis/ Thomas area and Blackwater Falls State Park. From going there a way ( and I mean WAY) too much- you start to learn the best places to go. Soo here is a list of my favorite waterfalls in the state park to check out on your next adventure. ( these are in no order)
Blackwater Falls ( aka the falls that the park is named after) is the main waterfall of the park and honestly the one waterfall that people see during their stay. I’m going to say it- DON’T LET THIS BE THE ONLY WATERFALL YOU SEE. Blackwater falls the largest waterfall, but ( in my opinion) it’s not the best in the park so adventure around. When you park in the parking lot, there is a small gift shop, and then you can make your way down the steps to the overlook area for the waterfall.
Okay, I LOVE this waterfall. The best thing is you can hike down to the base of the falls and sit on a rock and enjoy it. The waterfall is surrounded by super green moss and pine forest, so it’s just a surreal view. This waterfall is right, and I mean RIGHT beside the Blackwater Lodge and a quick and easy hike down ( less than a 0.5 of a mile).
It took me about a year of hiking in Blackwater to discover this falls. The trail to the falls is pretty rough ( there isn’t a trail), but you can find it beside Pendleton Lake! This is also one of my favorites because you can hike down to see the waterfall and even get in the water if you want!
